Tip
Mahabhishek at 4:30 AM is the most sought-after experience at Badrinath — intimate, powerful, and limited time_slots. Book via BKTC portal the moment travel dates are fixed. It fills weeks ahead in May and October.
Caution
The afternoon closure (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM) causes a crowd buildup that makes post-4 PM darshan chaotic. Plan for morning darshan only — arriving before 8 AM is the cleanest experience.
Key point
Brahma Kapal ghat — 5 minutes from the temple — is where ancestor rites (Pitru Tarpan) are performed. If this is a purpose of your visit, tell your operator in advance so a priest is arranged. It cannot be improvised on the day.
