Sunderdhunga — Beautiful Stones — is a pristine glacial tributary valley of the Pindar River in Kumaon, leading to a spectacular glacier basin at 14,000 ft under Maiktoli Peak (22,757 ft) and Tharkot. This 7-day difficult trek from Khati is widely considered Kumaon's most visually extraordinary glacier approach — a succession of dramatic hanging glaciers, turquoise glacial ponds, and towering granite faces. An alternate Kumaon glacier experience completely bypassed by mainstream tourism.
