Panpatia Tal at 13,800 ft is a remote glacial lake in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary above the Madmaheshwar valley — one of the least-known high lakes in the entire Garhwal Himalaya. This 5-day difficult trek from Ukhimath via Madmaheshwar branches deep into the wildlife sanctuary beyond the popular Kedarkantha circuit, entering a lake basin guarded by the Kedarnath and Kedarganga peaks. Fewer than 100 trekkers reach the lake annually — one of India's most pristine wilderness destinations.

Yes, but the glacial zone near Kedarnath is within a restricted sanctuary. Forest/sanctuary permit from Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is required. The route is legally accessible with correct permits.
