Essential Planning Guide
Vibe & Scenery
The Tarsar Marsar Trek explores two of Kashmir's most celebrated alpine lakes, beginning from the picturesque village of Aru near Pahalgam. The trail follows the Lidder Valley through expansive grazing meadows, seasonal shepherd camps, and rolling alpine landscapes before reaching the shores of the turquoise Tarsar Lake.
Continuing deeper into the mountains, trekkers cross high ridges to viewpoints overlooking the secluded Marsar Lake, whose waters often remain partially hidden beneath drifting clouds and surrounding cliffs. Throughout the journey, broad grasslands, glacial streams, and snow-covered peaks create one of Kashmir's most scenic trekking experiences.
Suitable for trekkers with moderate fitness, the route offers an excellent combination of alpine lakes, mountain camping, and classic Kashmir landscapes.
