When should you go?

A hardcore seasonal pilgrimage. Unlike Kedarnath, it has zero heli-access and minimal mule support. It is best explored in May-June or Sept-Oct, but the lush monsoon months of July-August are highly popular among devout pilgrims and flora enthusiasts.
