Seasonal Verdict

When should you go?

Kedartal is an elite alpine trek with a very narrow window. The high-altitude lake approach requires navigating fragile, steep terrain that is extremely hazardous during the monsoon, while winter sees the entire basin buried under deep snow.

Editor's Notes

Planning Tip

September offers the 'Still Water' window. The lake is so calm that the reflection of Thalay Sagar is pixel-perfect.

Important Advisory

Avoid July-August. The granite rock on Day 3 becomes dangerously slippery, and rockfalls in the gorge are common.
