Essential Planning Guide
Vibe & Scenery
The Kartik Swami Trek leads to a hilltop temple dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva, situated on a narrow ridge above the Mandakini valley. Beginning from Kanakchauri village, the trail climbs gradually through forests of oak and rhododendron before reaching the exposed summit ridge.
From the temple, trekkers enjoy panoramic views of prominent Himalayan peaks including Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Nanda Devi, Trishul, and surrounding Garhwal ranges. The combination of relatively easy access and outstanding mountain scenery has made Kartik Swami one of Uttarakhand's most popular short hikes.
Suitable for beginners, families, and pilgrims alike, the trek offers an excellent blend of natural beauty, mythology, and Himalayan viewpoints.
