The Experience

Introduction

Dev Kyara—often translated as the "Garden of the Gods"—is a broad alpine meadow hidden within the upper Supin Valley of western Garhwal. Unlike many of Uttarakhand's better-known bugyal treks, the route remains relatively uncrowded while offering classic Himalayan landscapes of forests, rivers, and expansive high-altitude grasslands.

Starting from Jakhol village, the trail follows the Supin River through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests before gradually opening into the meadows beneath Ranglana Peak. The surrounding basin provides impressive views of snow-covered ridges and serves as the approach for several technical mountaineering objectives.

Suitable for trekkers with moderate fitness, Dev Kyara offers an excellent introduction to remote Garhwal trekking without requiring glacier travel or technical climbing.
