A classic dry-alpine crossover trek in the rain shadow of Ladakh. The Markha Valley trek winds through the rugged gorges of Hemis National Park, passing green barley fields, ancient Buddhist monasteries (Gompas), and traditional mud-brick Ladakhi villages. Crossing the high pasturelands of Nimaling, it culminates in a dramatic crossing of the Kongmaru La Pass (~17,060 ft).
