The Markha Valley trek winds through the rugged gorges of Hemis National Park, passing green barley fields, ancient Buddhist monasteries (Gompas), and traditional mud-brick Ladakhi villages. Crossing the high pasturelands of Nimaling, it culminates in a dramatic crossing of the Kongmaru La Pass (~17,060 ft).
