The Moraine Scramble
Caution
The last 2 km to the lake involves scrambling over loose boulders. Step on the center of each rock. The trail is unmarked here — follow the cairns.
Forest trails (Day 1), then rocky moraine and boulder fields (Day 2). The steepest section is the last 2 km before the lake.
Altitude: 9,650ft. Moderate. The 3,150ft gain in one day is the challenge.
Long descent. Fatigue sets in below the forest line. Use poles.
Basic-Intermediate. 5km walk in 40 minutes. Stair climbing 15 minutes. Focus on downhill walking practice.
