Essential Planning Guide
Vibe & Scenery
The Indrahar Pass Trek is one of the signature trekking routes of the Dhauladhar Range, beginning near McLeod Ganj and climbing through Triund, Laka Got, and alpine terrain before reaching Indrahar Pass at approximately 14,245 ft.
Historically used by Gaddi shepherds moving between Kangra and Chamba, the trail offers an engaging progression from cedar forests to rocky mountain landscapes characteristic of the upper Dhauladhars. From the pass, trekkers enjoy expansive views across the Kangra Valley, Pir Panjal, and surrounding Himalayan ranges.
Although accessible to experienced trekkers, the steep final ascent, high altitude, and rapidly changing mountain weather demand good fitness and careful preparation.

Forest permits are required from the Dharamshala Forest Division for camping beyond Triund. The standard Triund camping permit covers the first campsite. For Snowline and the pass, additional permits may be needed depending on the season. The trail passes through ecologically sensitive zones — strict waste management rules apply. Groups larger than 15 need prior permissions. In winter, the pass is only accessible with technical gear and experienced guides.
