Essential Planning Guide
Vibe & Scenery
Usually undertaken as an extension of the popular Prashar Lake trek, the Tunga Mata Trek rewards trekkers with a quieter ridgeline experience overlooking the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. The trail climbs steadily through cedar forests and open meadows before reaching the hilltop temple dedicated to Tunga Mata.
From the summit, sweeping views stretch across the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal, and Kinnaur ranges, making it one of the finest viewpoints in the region. Despite its proximity to Prashar Lake, relatively few trekkers continue beyond the lake, allowing visitors to enjoy a much more peaceful mountain experience.
With moderate distances, straightforward navigation, and rewarding scenery, Tunga Mata is an excellent choice for beginners and weekend trekkers.
