The Experience

Introduction

Thamri Kund is a scenic short trek above Munsiyari, offering an accessible introduction to the forests and mountain landscapes of eastern Kumaon. Starting from Betulidhar, the trail winds through dense stands of rhododendron, oak, and Himalayan birch before reaching the tranquil waters of Thamri Kund.

On clear days, the lake reflects the snow-covered Panchachuli massif, making it a favourite destination for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The surrounding forests also form important habitat for Himalayan wildlife, including musk deer and numerous bird species.

With relatively little altitude gain and a short walking distance, Thamri Kund is an excellent acclimatization hike or half-day trek for visitors exploring the Munsiyari region.
