About Shrikhand Mahadev Trek

7 Days
17,150 FT
Challenging

Shrikhand Mahadev is a 75-ft natural Shivling formation at 18,570 ft in the Kullu district — the highest Shiva shrine in India and one of the most demanding pilgrimage treks in the Himalayas. This 5-day very difficult yatra from Jaon village involves extreme altitude gain, river crossings, rock scrambles, and overnight camps on exposed ridges. Nearly 12,000 pilgrims brave the route each August during the auspicious Shrikhand Yatra season. A spiritual and physical test of the highest order in any tradition.

Nain Sarovar

Common Questions

Is this harder than Adi Kailash?
Yes, significantly. Adi Kailash peaks at 15,500ft via a road-supported route. Srikhand Mahadev reaches 18,570ft with a technical rock chimney. It is the hardest pilgrimage trek in India.
Can I do it outside yatra season?
Technically possible but extremely dangerous. No rescue services, no medical camps, no rope markers. Not recommended.
What is the success rate?
Estimated 30-40% of those who start from Jaon reach the Shivling. Most turn back at Bheem Dwar or the rock chimney due to altitude, exhaustion, or fear.
