Drive to Solang Valley & Trek to Patalsu Base Camp

ManaliPatalsu Base Camp

Tent camp. Evening views of the Beas Valley below. Technical: Drive from Manali to Solang (30 mins). Take the gondola to the upper station (8,500ft). Trek from the gondola top through meadows to the base camp at 10,500ft. Trail is gentle and well-defined. Landscape: Solang Valley is Manali's adventure hub — skiing, paragliding, and zorbing happen here. But above the resort infrastructure, the valley transforms into pristine alpine meadows. The contrast between the tourist chaos below and the mountain silence above is striking. Safety: Acclimatize at camp. You've gained 2,000ft quickly via gondola. Walk around, hydrate, prepare for summit day.

Today's Objective

🏔 Summit Patalsu Peak

Patalsu Base CampPatalsu Base Camp (return)

Return to base camp by 3 PM. Second night in tents. Technical: Start at 5 AM. The first 2 hours are on snow-covered meadows (June). The final 1 km to the summit is a rocky ridge scramble — hands-and-feet in places. The summit is a narrow rocky pinnacle with room for 5-6 people. Microspikes recommended in June. 360-degree views: Beas Kund to the south, Rohtang corridor to the north, Kullu Valley to the east. Landscape: From Patalsu, you can see more of the Manali mountain geography than from any other accessible point. The peak gives you a bird's-eye view of Solang, the Atal Tunnel corridor, and the Rohtang approach. Safety: Turnback time: 12 PM. Weather changes fast at 14k. The ridge scramble requires confidence with heights. Do not attempt if cloud cover rolls in.
