Essential Planning Guide
The trek to Serolsar Lake from the top of the Jalori Pass is quite possibly the most rewarding beginner-level day hike in all of Himachal Pradesh. You drive your car directly to 10,280 ft at Jalori Pass, cutting out massive days of uphill climbing. From there, it is a stunning, heavily forested 5km walk along a level ridge line entirely shrouded by ancient Kharsu oak trees. The trail culminates at Serolsar Lake, a small, spectacularly clear alpine lake dedicated to the local deity Buddhi Nagin. The trek is famously safe, incredibly beautiful, and holds immense mythological value. The lake is said to be meticulously cleaned by local birds who pick up every fallen leaf off the water's surface.
