Essential Planning Guide
Vibe & Scenery
Hidden away from the popular Rupin Pass trail, Baraadsar Lake rewards experienced trekkers with one of the most isolated alpine lake expeditions in the Garhwal Himalayas. The route climbs through forests before emerging onto spectacular ridges that divide the Rupin and Supin valleys, providing panoramic views throughout the upper reaches of Govind Pashu Vihar National Park.
The final approach involves loose scree, exposed mountain terrain, and sustained climbing before reaching the sacred glacial lake surrounded by steep rocky slopes. Owing to its remoteness and technical terrain, the trek is recommended only for experienced Himalayan trekkers.

No. It is a 'virgin' trail compared to Rupin Pass. You will likely not see another group for the entire week.
Absolutely not. The exposure on the Dhaldhar ridge and the steep descent require prior high-altitude trekking experience and solid footwork.
In May and June, the lake is often partially frozen and surrounded by deep snow fields. By September, it is mostly rocky.
Network is available at Sankri/Khanyasni. Once you begin ascending, expect a total blackout.
Water is scarce on the high ridges (Badang to Devbasa). You must carry 2-3 liters from camp each day.
Yes. The trail on the ridge is unmarked and fog/whiteouts can make navigation extremely dangerous.
You get incredible views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak (Kalanag).
