Difficulty & Readiness Guide
Grade is PD. Requires rope team dynamics, basic ice climbing, and good fitness.
The Question
Preparation Required
Advanced
Prior Experience
Required: At least 2-3 moderate Himalayan treks (above 13,000ft).
Highly technical peak requiring physical and mental preparation.
The 72/100 score reflects the physical endurance required for this expedition, which can be deceptive. While some 10-day treks score higher due to their length, this is a technical mountaineering peak that requires specialized skills.
Route Knowledge
Long-duration high-altitude approach through glacial valleys and moraine terrain.
Physiological Demand
Expect long, exhausting days of sustained climbing at high intensity. Your cardiovascular system will be pushed to its absolute limit.
Extreme high altitude exposure. Severe oxygen depletion requires careful acclimatization and peak cardiovascular health.
Steep, punishing ascents and descents that will heavily tax your knees, ankles, and overall joint stability.
Rough, uneven trails with occasional scrambling or minor exposure.
Comfortable pacing with good recovery options.
Glacial travel with crevasses above 14800ft.
Roped team travel mandatory. Fixed ropes required on technical sections.
Requires absolute concentration on steep scree and glacier descent. Rappel fixed sections.

Inadequate hydration
Rushing acclimatization schedule
Underestimating cold/wind
Crevasse falls on glacier approach
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) / HACE / HAPE
Exposed ridge slips
Extreme sub-zero temperatures and high winds
AMS (Altitude Sickness)
Supplemental oxygen is not used for climbing this 6000m peak; acclimatization is key. However, emergency medical cylinders are carried by professional teams.
Evacuation Route
Retreat to Garur Base Camp, manual carry to road head at Badrinath, drive to nearest district hospital or AIIMS Rishikesh.
Solo Trekking
