DAY 1Scenic Drive
Today's Mission
Depart early morning. Road climbs steeply after Nainbagh through dense deodar forest. Barkot is the base town for Yamunotri.
Guide's Note • Preparation
If you arrive before sunset, keep tomorrow's clothes and daypack ready tonight. Most departures begin before sunrise, and a full night's sleep makes the climb easier.
Distance
220 km
Time
7 hrs
DAY 2 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Drive 16 km from Barkot to Janki Chatti (base), then 6.5 km trek each way to Yamunotri temple at 3,291 m. Divya Shila puja precedes temple darshan. Cook rice in the Surya Kund hot spring for prasad. Pony and doli available from Janki Chatti.
Guide's Note • On the Trail
The trail rewards consistency more than speed. Stop for one minute every 20–30 minutes rather than taking one long break.
Opening Darshan
6:00 AM – 1:00 PM
DAY 3Scenic Drive
Today's Mission
Leisurely drive along the Bhagirathi River. Arrive by afternoon; visit Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi town. Rest day before Gangotri.
Guide's Note • Rest & Recovery
You've completed Yamunotri. Tomorrow requires another early start for Gangotri, so today is best spent resting your legs rather than sightseeing.
Distance
100 km
Time
4 hrs
DAY 4 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Drive 100 km to Gangotri (3,100 m). Temple is a short flat walk from the parking area. Take a dip or sprinkle Ganga jal at Bhagirathi Shila. Road can be congested; leave Uttarkashi by 5 AM. Return to Uttarkashi for overnight.
Guide's Note • After the Darshan
Gangotri is where you can find quiet time by the Bhagirathi River after darshan. Leave enough time to sit by the water beyond the temple itself.
Opening Darshan
6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
DAY 5Scenic Drive
Today's Mission
Longest drive of the yatra. Passes through five Prayags region. Start by 5 AM. Guptkashi / Sitapur / Phata are all valid overnight bases for Kedarnath — confirm with operator.
Guide's Note • Tomorrow's Darshan
Today is mostly about positioning for Kedarnath. An early arrival at your base means an earlier start tomorrow and fewer crowds at Sonprayag.
Distance
250 km
Time
9 hrs
DAY 6 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Drive to Sonprayag (30 km), then shared jeep to Gaurikund. Trek 16 km uphill to Kedarnath (3,583 m). Alternatively, take a helicopter from Phata/Sirsi/Guptkashi (15 min). If you arrive by late afternoon, you can attend the evening Aarti, though early morning darshan queues tend to be much shorter.
Guide's Note • Mountain Advice
Save your energy for the final kilometres. The trail becomes easier when you settle into a consistent pace instead of rushing the climb.
Opening Darshan
4:00 AM – 6:00 AM
DAY 7Spiritual Trek
Today's Mission
Attend morning abhishek at 4 AM if desired. Descent is 16 km to Gaurikund. Return to Guptkashi. Those who trekked up may opt for helicopter down (subject to availability and weather).
Guide's Note • Darshan Tip
Complete your darshan without feeling rushed. The quiet moments around the temple complex are often as meaningful as the darshan itself.
DAY 8 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Scenic drive through Alaknanda valley. Road passes Nanda Devi viewpoints near Joshimath. Arrive Badrinath (3,133 m) by late afternoon; attend evening Aarti at the temple.
Guide's Note • Before Tomorrow
Today's drive leaves the Mandakini valley behind and follows the Alaknanda River towards Badrinath. An afternoon arrival gives you flexibility for either an evening darshan or a very early start tomorrow morning.
Distance
195 km
Time
7 hrs
Opening Darshan
4:30 AM – 6:00 AM
DAY 9 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Ritual dip in Tapt Kund hot spring before darshan. Badrinath temple opens early; aim for morning darshan to avoid afternoon queues. Mana is 3 km away — last Indian village before Tibet. Vasudhara Falls (+5 km from Mana) is optional for fit pilgrims.
Guide's Note • Stay Another Hour
Walk beyond the market towards the Saraswati River bridge. Many visitors turn back too early and miss the most dramatic views.
Opening Darshan
4:30 AM – 6:00 AM
DAY 10 TEMPLE DARSHAN
Today's Mission
Final drive. Depart by 5 AM to reach Haridwar by evening. Attend Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri to close the yatra. Many operators end the tour here; confirm drop-off point.
Guide's Note • The Pilgrimage Continues
The final drive home gives the journey time to settle before everyday life begins again. There's no need to rush the final day; use the time to reflect on the valleys you've crossed.
Distance
320 km
Time
10 hrs
Opening Darshan
4:30 AM – 6:00 AM
