Malana is not just a village — it's a civilization. Perched at 8,700 ft in the Parvati Valley, Malana claims to be the world's oldest democracy with a governing system predating Athens. Villagers speak Kanashi, a language with no written script. The strict no-touch social code and the worship of Jamlu Rishi make this one of the most culturally unique treks in India. A 2-day easy-moderate trek from Jari, Malana is a living anthropological experience unlike anything else in the Himalayas.
