The Experience

Introduction

The Gephan Peak Base Camp Trek approaches the spectacular glacial basin beneath Gephan Peak, one of the most prominent mountains in the Lahaul region. Beginning near Sissu, the trail gradually leaves the Chandra Valley behind, climbing through alpine terrain into a landscape dominated by glaciers, moraines, and towering rock faces.

Base camp sits at approximately 14,140 ft, surrounded by the Gephan Glacier and the imposing summit of Gephan Peak, a mountain that holds cultural significance for local communities. The route provides close-up views of glacial terrain without requiring technical climbing.

Suitable for trekkers with good fitness and prior high-altitude experience, the trek offers one of Lahaul's finest non-technical base camp journeys.
