Grade is PD+. Requires rope team dynamics, basic ice climbing, and good fitness.
The Question
Preparation Required
Elite
Prior Experience
Mandatory: Prior high-altitude trekking (16,000ft+) and basic technical knowledge.
Highly technical peak requiring physical and mental preparation.
At 82/100, this expedition is a world-class physical challenge. Beyond the extreme endurance required, you are entering high-altitude technical terrain where standard trekking rules no longer apply.
Route Knowledge
Cardio-intensive route compounded by significant altitude exposure across a trek featuring loose moraine.
Physiological Demand
Expect long, exhausting days of sustained climbing at high intensity. Your cardiovascular system will be pushed to its absolute limit.
Extreme high altitude exposure. Severe oxygen depletion requires careful acclimatization and peak cardiovascular health.
Steep, punishing ascents and descents that will heavily tax your knees, ankles, and overall joint stability.
Complex, dangerous terrain requiring technical skills, scrambling, and navigating high-consequence exposure zones.
Comfortable pacing with good recovery options.
Glacial travel with crevasses above 13200ft.
Roped team travel mandatory. Fixed ropes required on technical sections.
Requires absolute concentration on steep scree and glacier descent. Rappel fixed sections.

Underestimating cold/wind
Crevasse falls on glacier approach
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) / HACE / HAPE
Exposed ridge slips
Extreme sub-zero temperatures and high winds
AMS (Altitude Sickness)
A mandatory acclimatization day is scheduled at Homkund Base Camp (13200ft). Climatization rotations (load ferry to Nanda Ghunti Camp 1) are strictly enforced.
Evacuation Route
Retreat to Homkund Base Camp, manual carry to road head at Sutol, drive to nearest district hospital or AIIMS Rishikesh.
Solo Trekking
Strictly prohibited. All high-altitude peaks require IMF permits and certified mountain guide supervision.
