The Archetype Lab

We ran thousands of mathematical profiles through the Readiness Engine. Here is exactly how the most common trekker archetypes perform.

Archetype 01

The Elite Marathon Runner

Exceptional baseline cardiovascular fitness (V02 Max > 55) and muscular endurance. However, they possess zero high-altitude experience and no technical mountaineering skills.

Mathematical Profile

Aerobic Engine10 / 10
Structural Durability9 / 10
Altitude Exposure0 / 10
Technical Skill0 / 10

Engine Outcomes

  • Clears: Kedarkantha, Bali Pass

Massive aerobic buffer easily handles long trekking days.

  • Blocked by: Friendship Peak

Altitude Gap. Cardio cannot compensate for missing acclimatization data.

Archetype 02

The Everest Base Camp Veteran

Strong multi-day trekking resilience and proven altitude tolerance up to 18,000ft. However, they rely entirely on guides and have no independent rope or glacier skills.

Mathematical Profile

Aerobic Engine7 / 10
Expedition Resilience8 / 10
Altitude Exposure8 / 10
Technical Skill1 / 10

Engine Outcomes

  • Clears: Kang Yatse 2 (via standard route)

Excellent altitude history offsets the moderate aerobic demand.

  • Blocked by: Auden's Col

Technical Gap. Missing crevasse rescue and roped-travel capabilities.

Archetype 03

The Strong Gym Athlete

High structural strength (weightlifting) and anaerobic capacity (CrossFit). Very durable, but lacks long-duration zone 2 aerobic history and has no mountain exposure.

Mathematical Profile

Structural Durability9 / 10
Aerobic Engine5 / 10
Expedition Resilience2 / 10
Altitude Exposure0 / 10

Engine Outcomes

  • Clears: Brahmatal

Structural strength handles pack weight and steep inclines well.

  • Blocked by: Bali Pass

Resilience Gap. Missing multi-day camping and sustained exertion history.

Archetype 04

The Weekend Trekker

The default Indian trekker profile. Runs or cycles occasionally, completes 1–2 easy treks per year (like Triund), but has no high-altitude history above 14,000ft.

Mathematical Profile

Aerobic Engine5 / 10
Structural Durability4 / 10
Expedition Resilience3 / 10
Altitude Exposure1 / 10

Engine Outcomes

  • Clears: Dayara Bugyal

Moderate aerobic baseline is sufficient for standard beginner trails.

  • Blocked by: Kedarkantha (Winter)

Structural Gap. Lacks the lower body durability for sustained steep snow ascents.

Archetype 05

The BMC Graduate

Recently completed a Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC). They possess excellent textbook rope skills, crampon techniques, and self-arrest knowledge. However, they lack real-world, unguided multi-week expedition endurance.

Mathematical Profile

Technical Skill8 / 10
Altitude Exposure6 / 10
Aerobic Engine6 / 10
Expedition Resilience4 / 10

Engine Outcomes

  • Clears: Friendship Peak

Easily handles the technical glacier traverse and rope-work demands.

  • Blocked by: Auden's Col

Resilience Gap. Missing the massive multi-day, self-sustained expedition endurance required for this crossing.
